Tuckpointing

Old World Craftsmanship is evident in our tuckpointing and masonry procedures. Our mortar is a 3/1 mix (3 parts sand to one part cement). We use Portland Cement that contains lime- this is called Brixman type S. The majority of other companies use a Huron Mix that is a 6/1 ratio. This mix is the formula used in bricklaying. It is not as dense as our 3/1 mix, is quicker to install, and does not set up as hard. The life expectancy of this installation is less than half of ours.
